The President of the Catalan Government inaugurates the second airport in a year in Catalonia

After the inauguration of the Lleida-Alguaire Airport last 17th of January, the Catalan Government inaugurated last 4th of June the Pirineus-La Seu d'Urgell Airport

After being closed to commercial flights for almost 16 years, and to general aviation since the year 2007, the La Seu d'Urgell Airport was inaugurated last 4th of June (now renamed as Pirineus-La Seu d'Urgell Airport) by the President of the Catalan Government (Generalitat de Catalunya), Mr. José Montilla, after going through extensive remodellation and renewal works.

This is an important landmark for the Catalan Autonomous Community, that as part of the Generalitat ambitious Plan of Airports, Aerodromes and Heliports 2009 - 2015, is making a strong effort to improve and expand the airport infrastructures of Catalonia.

Mr. José Montilla was accompanied by the Catalan Minister of Ports and Airports, Mr. Joaquim Nadal, the Director of Ports and Airports, Mr. Oriol Balaguer, the President of BAIE, Mr. Fernando de Caralt, and the Director of BAIE Mrs. Gloria Garcia-Cuadrado among other authorities and officials.
