The MARES chair, developed by NTE-SENER, flies to the ISS
NTE-SENER, a BAIE Member, has developed under contract by ESA a sophisticated mechanical chair to monitor astronauts' health that this month has flown to the International Space Station.
The MARES chair, developed by NTE-SENER to monitor the muscle and bone health of astronauts, was launched aboard Discovery last 5th of April from Kennedy Space Center.
BAIE and NTE-SENER organised on the following day, the 6th of April in CosmoCaixa, a press conference to explain the particularities of the project and the leading Catalan participation in it.
The event had a strong media coverage, of which you can read some samples here by La Vanguardia (5 & 6 April), El Periódico (7 April), Expansión (7 April), EuropaPress (6 April), ABC (6 April), ADN (6 April), GlobalTalent News (7 April). You can also see here 4 different TV appearances in TV3, Barcelona TV and ETB.
MARES (Muscle Atrophy Research & Exercise System) is a very complex technological project that has spanned almost 15 years of development by NTE-SENER under an ESA contract. You can find out more about MARES in this ESA dedicated link.
Our congratulations to NTE-SENER for this outstanding project and the successful launch aboard Discovery. It sets an important landmark in the development of the Catalan aerospace sector.
